International Men's Day
The positive values that men bring to the world, their families and their communities were celebrated globally on November 19. During the Festival Film Indonesia 2023, SAPTO DJOJOKARTIKO had the opportunity to have a conversation with two inspirational men representing their respective industries, the Legendary Iwan Fals, and aspiring actor Angga Yunanda.
Each generation has different experiences, emotions, and a sense of style. The variations in choices between Angga Yunanda's and Iwan Fals' personal styles are evident, considering they come from two different generations and backgrounds. Iwan Fals prefers to wear more straightforward, everyday attire, whereas Angga enjoys experimenting with bright, neutral colors and styles.
Treasured memories bring back pleasant recollections of a place and time. It was one of the most unforgettable experiences of the legendary Iwan Fals’ career to begin as a street performer. For the majority of his career, he has been supported in his endeavors of making music by his family, friends, and surroundings. His life has always revolved around music; listening to artists like The Beatles, Koes Plus, and Benyamin Soeb has given him motivation and inspiration to produce music.
With his debut in a soap opera, Angga Yunanda entered the world of acting. Numerous experiences from his early career journey have helped him to develop both personally and as an artist. "Everything is possible as long as we are willing to learn and try" he said. The process of filming develops his appreciation for the industry, something he already felt from his last project, Budi Pekerti, which debuted on November 2, 2023.
Iwan Fals and Angga Yunanda are constantly reminded of the life motto of their goals, purpose, and how they represent happiness, success, and life. Iwan Fals pursues success according to his own definition of it, understanding that life is best lived when it is good for others, himself, and the universe. While still in the process of getting there, Iwan Fals defines success as the ability to be grateful for what already exists.
"Limitation is just an illusion" Angga said. He believes he is capable of everything in life if he continually strives to achieve what is best for him. Apart from that, he believes that even though he hasn't yet reached that turning point, he will eventually get there. His definition of success aligns with his motto: making movies is more than just entertainment; it can impact a larger community and perhaps even enlighten an individual.
Both movies and music foster an emotional bond between the audience and the story as a whole. Despite coming from different generations, their appreciation for the industry constantly grows and they continue to inspire others.
